Former Police Officer engages in fast in a forest in Thirukkovil

A former police officer, his wife and child have commenced fast near the Rupaskulam forest at Thirukkovil in Ampara.

The former police officer is charging that the authorities have kept mum after he was removed from service in 2003.

Reports indicated that the former police officer had been fired under the charges of not reporting to work without notice.

However, the former police officer stated that he is unable to engage in a proper occupation, after he suffered gunshot injuries on his limbs during the war.

He also noted that he was removed from his duties due to political reasons, and requested the authorities to reinstate him.
