C.V. Wigneswaran, Chief Minister of Sri Lanka’s Northern Province, making a statement in Vavuniya, said considering the fire and explosions of the ammunition storage at the Kosgama Army Camp, the ammunition storage in the “Militti” army camp in Jaffna should be removed along with the entire camp.

He pointed out that maintaining weapons storages in populated areas endanger the lives of the people.

The Chief Minister noting that the war has been over for seven years and there is no need to maintain army camps in the North any longer, said more police officers can be deployed and strengthened the police to provide security to the people in the North.

Adding further, CM stated that he has discussed in this regard with the Commander of the Security Forces in Jaffna, Major General Mahesh Senanayake as well.
