Former minister Keheliya Rambukwella reported to the FCID this morning. He was summoned to record a statement with regard to an allegation that he spent public funding amounting to 20 million rupees for a surgery on his leg in Australia.
Earlier, ex-secretary to the former president Lalith Weeratunga was also summoned on May 24th to record a statement with regard to the same incident.
A FCID senior officer told our news team that police interrogation is still in progress at this time.
In addition, another 26 public officers have reported to the FCID this morning to give statements with regard to different allegations.
The FCID spokesman said among them are several ex officials and few others still serving in the State Engineering Corporation, Tourist Promotion Bureau and, Milko Lanka Limited.
At the same time, wife of former Ambassador to Russia Udayanga Weeratunga is scheduled to report to the FCID today to make a statement with regard to an alleged misappropriation of public funds in procuring MIG aircraft for Sri Lanka Air force.
