Kelaniya Uni students to launch a protest in Colombo

Students attached to the University of Kelaniya has launched a protest last night, against an incident where a group of students were locked inside a hostel room.

They protested blocking a lane in Colombo- Kandy main road.

A professor at the university has forcefully taken an identity card of a student on March 15. Students have complained regarding the incident to university authorities.

Since no action was taken with regard to this, the students have approached the office where the professors were. The Student Union at the university accused that the lecturers locked the gates and held the students there.

The President of the Student Union said that they are hoping to launch a protest against this in Colombo today.
