The overtime strike the postal employees launched based on 14 demands including the introduction of a new recruitment system and the restoration of overtime bonus payments continues.

Combined Postal Trade Unions Front convener Chinthaka Bandara said that by now about 700,000 letters and parcels were piled up at the Central Mail Exchange and post offices island-wide.

The convener also said that yesterday discussions were held with the Prime Minister’s Secretary with regard to their demands.

Combined Postal Trade Unions Front convener said that in consequence of this, several rounds of discussions would be held with relevant persons today as well.
