The Cabinet has approved to sign an agreement with Ukraine which enables the two countries to exchange criminals in hideouts.

The proposal with regard to this agreement has been made by President Maithripala Sirisena.

Addressing the Media Conference to Inform Cabinet decisions, Minister Gayantha Karunathilaka said the objective of the agreement is to extradite criminals who committed offences in Sri Lanka and are currently hiding in Ukraine.

Sri Lankan former ambassador Udayanga Weeratunga who is accused of supplying arms to Ukraine militants is currently living in Ukraine.
