Minister Sarath Amunugama has stated that a group of Joint Opposition MPs will join the government in the near future.

The statement was made during a media conference held at the SLFP headquarters in Colombo this morning.

He also said that proposals have been made to remove VAT concessions granted on tobacco and alcohol. 

It has also been  proposed to remove current VAT on laboratory tests and air tickets.
