The overtime strike launched by postal employees based on 14 demands ended at midnight yesterday.

The demands included the introduction of a new recruitment system and the restoration of overtime bonus payments.

Combined Postal Trade Union Front co-convener Chinthaka Bandaara told our news team that this decision was made after discussion with officials including the Prime Minister’s secretary, Public Administration Ministry Secretary and Minister of postal services H. M. Haleem.

However on this occasion the co-convener said that the front would resort back to a strike from July 4th if the relevant demands were not granted as promised.
