The Government has decided give a two month grace period to pay off water and electricity bills of  flood affected properties and those affected by the explosion at the Saalaava army camp.

Issuing a communiqué Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayke said that accordingly the grace period was made effective from yesterday.

Similarly the Finance Minister says that these affected people could pay the relevant vehicle leasing and bank loan installments with  two-month arrears.

The Government had previously given a two-month grace period to people affected by floods and land slides for paying water and electricity bills.

Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake said that in addition, a sum of 380 million rupees required for giving a 10,000 – rupee advance to the flood-hit people of Kolonnaawa was released to  the Disaster Management Ministry thursday afternoon.
