The petition filed with the Colombo High Court requesting the revision of the bail order on former Colombo Additional Magistrate Thilina Gamage was taken for before Court this morning.
Meanwhile a motion filed by the defendant in Colombo High Court has been withdrawn.
In the defendant’s motion, his lawyers stated that the objective of the motion is to verify the High Court order to suspend the bail order issued by the Nugegoda Magistrate Court.
However lawyers of the Attorney General stated that there is no need of such verification as the said Case is scheduled to be taken for hearing on June 21.
Accordingly, High Court Judge Manilal Vydyatilaka stated that he would not make any statement with regard to the motion.
At the same time, the High Court Judge issued notices on the Registrar of the Nugegoda Magistrate Court to submit the original documents of the said Case to Colombo High Court on June 21.
Thilina Gamage surrendered to Nugegoda Magistrate Court after he was accused of rearing an elephant calf without a license. Later the Attorney General filed a petition with the Colombo High Court requesting the revision of the Nugegoda Magistrate’s bail order;
Later the bail order issued by the Nugegoda Magistrate was temporarily suspended by the Colombo High Court from June 13 to 21.
