Over Rs. 24 million worth of heroin found

Heroin worth over Rs. 24 million were taken in to police custody following raids in Panadura, Wellawatte and Wadduwa areas.

Primary investigations have revealed that an inmate at the Welikada Prison was behind the drug racket.

Police said 4600 packets of heroin worth over Rs. 3 million were nabbed during a rain in Walana area, Panadura on Thursday (16). The stock of heroin found in Wellawatte are worth over Rs. 8 million.

Meanwhile, five people were arrested in connection to the racket. The suspects included a former Naval officer.
