Inspections broadened to identify landslide-prone areas

Head of the Landslide Research & Risk Management Division of the National Building Research Organization, R.M.S. Bandara stated that inspections to identify areas with potential risks of landslides have been broadened.

Accordingly teams from the National Building Research organization are working in collaboration with Senior Professors, lecturers and students of the Geology Department of Peradeniya University concerning the matter.

He also stated that areas with potential risks of landslides in the Ratnapura, Kandy and Kegalle districts are currently being identified.

As of today, 636 areas prone to landslides have been identified within the Kegalle district.
