Strong winds at times can be expected over the southern and western sea areas as showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Hambantota via Puttalam, Colombo and Galle, the Department of Meteorology stated.

Showers or thundershowers may also occur at several places in the other sea areas.

Winds will be South-westerly and speed will be 40-50 kmph.

The deep and shallow sea area extending from Puttalam to Batticaloa via Colombo, Hambantota and Pottuvil can be very rough at times as the wind speed can increase up to 70 kmph.

Naval and fishing communities are requested to be vigilant in this regard.
