National Freedom Front (NFF) Spokesperson Mohammed Muzammil, who was arrested by the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) this morning over the misuse of a Presidential Secretary vehicle, was remanded till July 4 by Colombo Fort Magistrate.

He is said to have misappropriated Rs 6.2 million as rent for a vehicle from the State Engineering Corporation.

Mr. Muzammil was arrested as he arrived at the FCID to give a statement, reportedly.

The arrest was made in connection with an investigation on the misuse of vehicles belonging to the Presidential Secretariat Office. 

The suspect to be produced before the Court again on 4 July.
