Two Courts of Inquiry (COI) was appointed by the Army Commander to look for the missing documents pertaining to the murder of Lasantha Wickramathunga and Prageeth Eknaligoda case.
In a statement the Sri Lanka Army (SLA) said the Army Commander has pledged SLA’s fullest support to the CID investigations. A Special Investigation Unit of the Sri Lanka Military Police was detailed to trace the documents. Yet, certain documents were not retrieved by the unit.
In order to find them two COIs were appointed.
The statement added, “If any member of the Army is found to be involved in the two cases aforesaid directly or indirectly including obstructing justice by suppressing of evidence, such persons will be brought before a Court martial irrespective of their ranks or stature.”
