OIC of the Special Crime Division of Mount Lavinia B. H. S. Gunaratne who was arrested by the officials of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption is remanded until 27th of this month, as per the order of Colombo Magistrate’s Court today.

He was arrested when he attempted to take Rs. 20,000 from a woman as a bribe at a bank in Dehiwala.

The OIC has promised to settle the case to her benefit if she paid him a sum of Rs. 100,000.

The woman has paid Rs. 5000 first, and was to pay him Rs. 20,000 yesterday when the OIC was arrested.
