Ports Authority Trade Unions Charge 7 Fasting Members Are Interdicted

The Trade Union Joint Front of the Sri Lanka Port Authority says that their seven representatives, currently on a fast against subject minister Arjuna Ranatunga’s actions have been interdictted.

The seven workers said that they had decided to call off the fast today.

Convener of the Trade Union Joint Front Prasanna Kalutarage said the fast will continue for its seventh consecutive day following the authority’s decision to interdict the workers.

Meanwhile a protest has been organized in front of the Clock Tower near the Port Authority main entrance this afternoon against the prevailing crises.

Minister of Ports Arjuna Ranatunga said during a media conference yesterday that the functions of the Port have not been disrupted due to the fast.
