Police used water cannons and tear gas to disperse a protest march organized by the students of University of Sri Jayewardenepura near Kollupitiya junction.

The J’pura students started their protest march from their university premises against establishing the private medical college in Malambe.

Meanwhile, the protest created severe traffic congestion and caused a temporary closure of main road from Kollupitiya junction towards Galleface Green.
