A special programme to take action against dengue breeding grounds will be launched tomorrow.

Minister of Health Rajitha Senaratne has advised the Director General of Health Services to take necessary steps with regard to the Dengue Epidemic Situation Report.

Accordingly officers of the tri-forces, police and civil security officers will be deployed to inspect dengue breeding sites.

The programme that will commence tomorrow will take place especially in Kolonnawa, Kaduwela, Gampaha, Dehiwala and Mount Lavinia.

Areas that were affected by floods are in risk of an increase on mosquito population, health officials said.

The Ministry says that a total of 19731 dengue patients were reported this year, while 47.61 per cent of this number were reported from the Western Province.
