Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe noted that measures would be taken to reach a bilateral free trade agreement with Britain, after they decided to leave the European Union.

Addressing a UNP member promotion campaign held in Galle today, the Premier further noted that alternative steps would be taken to minimize the impacts to Sri Lanka, following the BREXIT referendum.

The Prime Minister also stated that, on the same day the results of the Britain’s referendum to leave the European Union was announced, he received a report from the Central Bank pertaining to the repercussions of the Britain’s decision.

The report explained the impact on British and European economies, as well as the global economic trends following the exit of Britain from the European Union.
