The Committee on Public enterprises (COPE) will summon the authorities of the Central Bank on June 29 for an examinations of its transactions, it is learnt.
COPE, a Parliamentary watchdog committee, met last week and examined the financial situations in various other government institutions.
The State Engineering Corporation was one of them. COPE had found that as many as 1000 employees on its payroll idled without any specific tasks being assigned to them.
COPE is at present headed by JVP MP Sunil Handunnetti.
