331 second year students from the Management Faculty of the South Eastern University in Ampara were suspended yesterday.
University Vice Chancellor Professor M.M.M. Najeeb told our news team the suspension was implemented as the group of students had been found to be engaging in ragging.
He also said that students from 4 out of five faculties have agreed not to rag new students but those who had been suspended did not agree with the decision.
The Vice Chancellor also said that parents of new students had complained about their children being ragged.
Professor Najeeb said as a result those students have been barred from entering the university premises.
