United Peoples’ Freedom Party (UPFA) Rathnapura District Parliamentarian (MP) Pavithra Wanniarachchi was severely warned by Colombo Additional Magistrate Aruni Artigala for inappropriately advising her lawyer inside the court room today (28).

On several occasions Mrs. Wanniarachchi made attempts to instruct the lawyer inside the court room while the case was being heard, which led to her being reprimanded.

The Additional Magistrate observed that it was wrong to instruct the lawyers inside the court room.

Being an Attorney-at-Law herself, MP Wanniarachchi should be aware of the process inside the court room, the Additional Magistrate also said.

The case which was being heard concerned an incident where Wanniarachchi had paid an individual Rs 2 million for a house in Subhuthipura, Battaramulla. However, the individual had failed to give her a house as promised.

The individual undertook to pay back the MP and was released on bail.
