The protest staged by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs, Palitha Thewarapperuma against the Matugama - Meegahatenna Primary School denying the admission of 10 students continues for the 3rd day in front of the Matugama Zonal education office.

Parents and students have joined the protest.

It was reported that the Matugama road in front of the office was blocked by the protesters and tires were being burnt.

The protest began on Monday against the admission being denied to students for over a period of 6 months.

A tense situation arose when the Acting SP of the Kalutara, E.T Thilakaratne arrived at the location.

This morning the Matugama Zonal Education office was under lock down and the employees were unable to enter the premises.

The Minister Thewarapperuma told our news team that the protest would be carried out until the students are granted admission to the school.
