UN Human Rights High Commissioner Prince Seid Raad Al Husein says that he appreciates the steps the Government has taken for holding a referendum next year with regard to the new constitution.

The High Commissioner said so while addressing the 32nd session of the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva.

Prince Hussein presented his annual report at the session held yesterday.

Expressing his views Foreign Affairs Minister Mangala Samaraweera said that Sri Lanka was now open to the world.

The Foreign Affairs Minister also said that because of this he invites UN Secretary General Ban Kee Moon to visit Sri Lanka next year.
