State Minister of Finance Lakshman Yapa Abeywardana noted that the new Central Bank Governor would be appointed for a term of one year.

The Minister noted this while addressing a media briefing held to inform cabinet decisions yesterday (29).

Meanwhile, journalists enquired from Navy Media Spokesman Captain Akram Alevi during the cabinet briefing, why legal action has not been taken against former president Mahinda Rajapaksa’s son Yoshitha Rajapaksa.

Expressing his views on the matter the Navy Media Spokesman noted that a Summary trial against Yoshitha Rajapaksa commenced and during the hearing he was arrested on the 30th of January.

In addition, he noted that Yoshitha has been interdicted on the 28th of February.
