Minister of Mass Media Gayantha Karunathileke states that the Information Commission will be established in the near future in order to activate the Right to Information Act.

Speaking at an event held in Galle, Minister Gayantha Karunathileke said 8,000 officers will undergo training pertaining to obtaining and providing information.

He said the government will be under scrutiny it will be caged in a glass box, with the implementation of the bill.

Minister Gayantha Karunathileke said the government will be required to be transparent.

He said the government is happy to introduce the bill to all Sri Lankans.

Minister Karunathileke said the government is looking at completing the preliminary stages of the process in the next 6 months.
