The Iraqi government has declared 3 days of national mourning after a huge bomb in the capital Baghdad killed at least 125 people and wounded about 150.

A lorry packed with explosives was detonated in the Karrada district while families were shopping for the holiday marking the end of Ramadan.

So-called Islamic State has said it carried out the suicide attack, and when Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi visited the mainly Shia area yesterday his convoy was greeted by angry crowds.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister ordered security services to stop using fake bomb detectors at checkpoints, and vowed that his administration will punish the perpetrators, saying that victory over terrorists is close.
