The Government Medical Officers' Association (GMOA) launched a token strike today (04) which will be conducted from 8.00 a.m. to midday.
The strike which started at 8 o’clock this morning throughout the country has badly affected the functions of government hospitals including the Colombo National Hospital thereby brining OPD services and clinics to standstill.
The GMOA decided to carry out the strike action to oppose the government on the dispute over SAITM private medical college and the government's plan to sign the ETCA with India.
Meanwhile, several other trade unions have also extended support to the GMOA's strike action.
