Special programme to cut down Colombo dengue patients by 25 per cent this month

Local Government and Provincial Councils Minister Faizer Mustapha has instructed to introduce a special programme to reduce the number of dengue patients in Colombo City limits by 25 per cent in July.

He has given the instructions during a meeting at the Colombo Municipal Council yesterday.

Chief Minister of Western Province Isura Devapriya, the Secretary to the Local Government and Provincial Councils Ministry Kamal Padmasiri, Commissioner to Colombo City V. K. Anura and National Dengue Control Board’s head Dr. Hasitha Tissera took part in the discussion.

A large number of patients were identified in June, with the most being reported from Narahenpita area where 350 fell ill with dengue fever.
