Media in india reported today that Sri Lanka and India have agreed to renegotiate the proposed Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement.
The two countries agreed today to renegotiations during a meeting between minister of Development Strategies and International Trade, Malik Samarawickrama and india’s minister of Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitaraman.
The ministers have further agreed to complete the agreement as soon as possible.
Accordingly, Indian Commerce and Trade Ministry stated in a communiqué that discussion about ETCA are expected to be completed before the end of this year.
It also stated that a delegation from India’s government will visit Sri Lanka to open discussions with regard to renegotiation of the Economic and Technical Cooperation Agreement.
