The National Water Supply and Drainage Board says around eight more hours will be required to restore water supply to a number of areas around Colombo where interruptions in the supply were witnessed.
A spokesman at the Water Supply Board said that quick action was being taken to repair the relevant pipeline.
Water supply was suspended in several areas from last afternoon as a result of a crack that occurred in a main pipeline supplying water from the Ambatale to Dehiwala.
High pressure has caused the crack of the water pipe.
Accordingly the Water Supply Board took action to suspend water supply to Dehiwala - Mt. Lavinia Municipal Council limits, Wellawatta, Colpetty, Bambalapitiya, Kirulapone, Pamankade, and Havelock Town.
In addition, water supply was suspended in Jayanthipura, Mulleriyawa, Ambatale and Kohilawatta as well.
