MP Ranjith Soyza has noted that the Shadow Cabinet appointed by the Joint Opposition will meet at the parliamentary complex next week.

Expressing his views to our news team, the MP noted that a lengthy discussion will be held during this meeting drawing attention to the manner in which the Joint Opposition members designated to ministerial portfolios should act.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa was designated as the Prime Minister of the recently appointed Shadow Cabinet.

In addition, the Buddha Sasana, Religious Affairs and Defence subjects will fall under former President Rajapaksa's purview.

The subject of National Policies and Economic Affairs was designated to MP Dinesh Gunawardena while MP Chamal Rajapaksa was assigned for the subject of Transport and Aviation Services.

Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa has been named for Foreign Affairs.

However, reports indicated that former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is yet to release a communiqué concerning the matter, while MP Lohan Ratwatte said yesterday that he wishes to withdraw from his designation.
