A three day anti-dengue program has commenced throughout the island.
The Health Ministry stated that the program was started as dengue breeding has increased following the recent floods and wet weather conditions.
23, 500 dengue cases have been reported so far and, 40 out of the total patients count have died.
Higher proposrtion of dengue cases have been reported from the Western Province, the districts of Galle and Matara.
750 groups including teams from the Presidential Task Force, tri forces and police have been included in the anti dengue program. The program will cover 60 GMO divisions of 8 districts. The program was inaugurated this morning at the Maradana Railway station.
