Puththalama magistrate Bandula Gunarathne ordered to release 17 suspects in remand for having protested against wild elephant threat.

The 17 suspects from Puttalam, Palugaswewa, Attawilluwa and Dangahawala blocked Puttalam- Kurunegala route demanding solutions for the issue.

Puttalam police had lodged the complaint against protest demonstrators for being a trouble to the daily life of common folk.

Thus, Puttalam magistrate ordered the 17 protestors bailed out for 50,000 rupee surety bail each while ordering them to appear before the court on 14th September.
