Minister Mahinda Amaraweera says government will never give permission to Indian fishermen to engage in fishing activities in the Sri Lankan waters.

He totally rejects some allegations that the government would allow Indian fishermen to enter into Sri Lanka seas.

Although various parties from time to time have expressed multiple views regarding this matter the ministry of fisheries has not conducted a single discussion in this connection. The minister therefore requests the public not to be panicked by false information spread by various elements.

The ministry will consider the views of the fisher societies before taking any decision pertaining to fishing industry in Sri Lanka.

The Minister further said that Sri Lanka Navy and the Coastal Guards are ready to arrest the Indian fishermen who violate the Sri Lankan sea territory.
