Swathi murder accused P Ramkumar has been taken to an undisclosed location for interrogation by the city police. The Tamil Nadu-Egmore metropolitan magistrate court on Wednesday (13) granted three days police custody of the accused.

At an identification parade on Tuesday, Swathi's father Santhana Gopalakrishnan and Sivakumar, a bookseller at Nungambakkam railway station, confirmed Ramkumar as the assailant. The court asked the city police to return him to judicial custody on Saturday.

Soon after the magistrate pronounced his order, police took Ramkumar to the Nungambakkam police station from where he was moved to another location. According to the media reports, that the police would ask Ramkumar to re-enact the murder at the Nungambakkam railway station. This will be videographed. "We have kept the details of the re-enactment secret to avoid media attention," said a police officer, the Hindu reports.

Police are now looking into the reason why Ramkumar was using a SIM card in the name of Sankar, the father of his classmate in Einstein Engineering College in Alangulam. "The address was given as Subbaiah Mudaliyarpuram in Tuticorin. Sankar, who stayed in a rented house there before moving out, was questioned by police. Police said Sankar's son must have given Ramkumar the SIM card after they completed their college, reportedly.
