Matale District MP Rohini Kaviratne says that the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau is misleading parliament, President as well as the masses.

MP Rohini Kaviratne stated this while addressing a media briefing held at Naula area in Matale.

Elaborating on the matter, MP Kaviratne noted that she has sent a letter to the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau with regard to a problem in issuing permits for sand mining at Laggala, Wilgamuwa area.

However, she was informed by the Bureau that they cannot address to the complaint, and the matter should be submitted to them via the Speaker.

After she informed the matter to the Speaker, MP Kaviratne noted that she was able to obtain details of the issue, and found out that false information was submitted to obtaining the relevant permit.

Therefore, she stressed that the Mines Bureau has deliberately misled the parliament, the President as well as the general public.
