A 5.0 magnitude earthquake has hit Tokyo and eastern Japan.

Witnesses said they felt buildings shaking, but there was no danger of a tsunami and no immediate report of injuries or major damage.

A Japanese news stated has reported that authorities checked Tokai No. 2 nuclear power station for damages but none were found. The station was closed since 2011.
