Chicken sellers in Hatton, Bogawanthalawa and Maskeliya areas are protesting against the move by the government to introduce a controlled price for the meat.
They have taken part in the protest by closing their shops.
The sellers claimed that they cannot sell chicken for Rs. 495.
They added that the meat can be sold at the controlled price if poultry farmers are provided relief from taxes so that they can sell wholesale chicken at a lower price.
