President Maithripala Sirisena says that if a new political force wants to compete for power, they should first find a democratic leader who is free of corruption and has integrity.
Addressing a meeting in Kilinochchi today, the president however noted, that this is not a need in today’s context.
The ceremony was held to open the German Sri Lanka Technical Training Institute in Kilinochchi. The president further said that those who attempt to form new political forces should learn a lesson about national reconciliation.
He also charges that certain factions are spreading false rumors about the proposed new constitution. The President further said the goal of the new constitution is to create national unity among all communities within a unitary state.
Opposition Leader R. Sampandan, Northern Provincial Governor Reginald Corey, German Ambassador to Sri Lanka Dr. Jurgen Morhard, several diplomats and parliamentarians participated in the event.
