Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Ranjith Siyambalapitiya says the government has no incurred losses when purchasing coal for the Norochcholai Coal Power Plant.
Speaking at a media this morning Minister Siyambalapitiya said the coal agreement at the time saw coal purchased at a higher price than at present.
Minister Siyambalapitiya said an expert panel has been appointed to look in to any shortcomings. The Minister added investigations are due to conclude on the 29th of this month.
The Minister said if the three plants malfunction without coal the government will incur a daily loss of 300 million rupees.
He refuted baseless accusations that highlight that the ministry and the country incurred major losses through this deal.
