A police inspector in the Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria has allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl at gunpoint, Nigerian media reports.
The victim, identified only as Udo, has claimed that the incident took place when she was accosted by a police team on her way home from church on Thursday, explaining that a gun was raised to her head, following which her assailant threatened to shoot her if she resisted.
Udo has alleged that she was led to a dark area along the road where she was fondled and forced to undress before being ordered to lie down and open her legs for the man to rape her.
"As he was raping me, he warned me not to cry and threatened to shoot me if I opened my mouth.
"Blood was oozing from my private parts, but the policemen dragged me into the vehicle and drove to the station, where he detained me from Thursday till Saturday," the distraught girl revealed.
Udo's uncle, Dr. Ime Stephen, is alleged to have bailed the victim out of prison at a fee of N10, 000, Daily Post reports.
He has since called for the immediate dismissal of the suspect so as to allow for his prosecution as soon as possible, foreign media reports.
