China torrential rains; 225 killed and thousands evacuated

As many as 225 people were killed or missing and thousand others were displaced due to heavy rains in China.

It was reported that over 52,000 houses has collapsed and thousands of hectares of crops destroyed. According to foreign media the country is suffering a loss of over 15 billion yuan as a result.

The toll in heavy rains this week mounted to 105 people dead and 104 others listed missing in north China’s Hubei Province, state-run Xinhua news agency reported on Saturday.
