The Archbishop of Colombo His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith noted Buddhism has been given priority by everyone, as it has become the way of life of Sri Lankans.
The Archbishop also noted that Buddhism is a philosophy linked to the country’s history, and stressed that he would not approve a concept of establishing a secular state.
His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith noted this while participating in a religious ceremony held this morning, for the newly appointed Chief Prelate of Asgiri Chapter Most Ven. Warakagoda Gnanarathana Thera, Anu Nayaka Thera of the same Chapter Ven. Wendaruwe Upali Thera and several other monks.
Expressing his views, the Chief Prelate of Asgiri Chapter Most Venerable Warakagoda Gnanarathana Thera noted that they would leave no provision for the rulers to steer the country in an arbitrary manner.
