The Northern Provincial Chief Minister C.V. Wigneswaran has said that his council should also be given certain rights when Moragahakanda Irrigation Project supplies water to the North.
He expressed this view during a meeting held yesterday at Jaffna Irrigation Auditorium to educate representatives of JICA and a group of Northern Provincial councillors , regarding the benefits to be passed on to North.
After the meeting, provincial councillor M.K. Sivagilingam quoted the chief minister as saying that the Central government should enter into an agreement in this regard.
The chief minister had also said at the meeting that the central government will take action to set up settlement of southerners in the north if it holds the sole ownership of the project.
