A nine year old school girl was killed by a wild elephant attack at Debara Aara in Wellawaya yesterday (27) morning.

Our correspondent said that the wild elephant had attacked the girl while she was making her way to school.

Her grandfather, who took the girl on a bicycle was admitted to Thanamalwila hospital with serious injuries, and later transferred to Hambantota hospital as his condition worsened.

The deceased has been identified as a Year-3 student of Balaharuwa Vidyalaya.
