Turkey's state run news agency says the government has decided to close down dozens of media organizations, including 45 newspapers, 16 television stations and 15 magazines.

The news comes on the heels of dozens of individual journalists being issued arrest warrents amid the sweeping crackdown following the country's failed coup.

Anadolu Agency also says close to 1,700 officers including 149 generals and admirals have been formally discharged from the military following the coup attempt.
