Four days after a student committed suicide, allegedly following ragging by seniors at a college in Kerala's Kozhikode, six students have been arrested. The police have filed cases of abetting suicide and ragging, in which three lecturers of the college have also been named.
Hasheena Hameed, 18, was found hanging at her home on July 23. She was a student of second year at the Malabar Higher Education Society.
The police said she did not leave behind any written note. Her parents, however, had filed a complaint earlier, alleging that she was being mentally harassed and publicly embarrassed by her seniors, reportedly.
Kerala police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
