The Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Ministry announced that it is likely to lose the proposed National Aquatic Cultivation Park at Nayaru in the Batticaloa district.
The project expected to create 10 thousand job opportunities.
This decision is to be taken on a report submitted by Ministry Secretary Mangalika Adhikari.
In her report, Ministry Secretary stated that several local politicians together with some NGOs are protesting against this project.
She informed subject minister Mahinda Amaraweera during a meeting yesterday, that it is difficult to launch this project due to such objections.
The government has planned to invest 4000 million rupees on this project. The ministry is of the opinion that certain factions are protesting against the project due to false propaganda.
